Reviewing QIP-NJ Results and the Appeal Process

Hospitals are currently in the submission window for non-claims-based measures within the Quality Improvement Program (QIP-NJ), with an August 7th deadline. In early Fall, hospitals will gain access to their non-claims-based measure Patient-Level Report (PLR), and the window for appeal begins. Reviewing your results and formulating necessary appeals is the next step in the QIP-NJ process.

Make Sure to Submit and Appeal on Time

The New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) provides the following timeline regarding QIP-NJ MY3:

IMPORTANT: Only reporting and computational errors may be appealed in QIP-NJ. Other disputes related to program policy or statewide targets may not be appealed [Source].

HCIS is Invested in your Success

Since the inception of QIP-NJ, HCIS has helped hospitals with their appeals by analyzing and making suggestions on your PLR and has won every appeal we’ve submitted (25+). HCIS can assist with all non-claims-based measure result interpretation and appeals.

HCIS wants to make the result review process as simple and efficient as possible. By leveraging our familiarity with QIP-NJ data, we can help all participating hospitals review their results and formulate an appeal if necessary. The appeal process for QIP is quite lengthy and complicated as it includes manually going through hefty spreadsheets and flagging any computational or reporting errors. HCIS doesn’t want you to go at this alone. We are heavily invested in the year-over-year improvement of New Jersey’s hospitals, making us the trusted partner for your QIP needs.
